A Forvela product
A thousand pages,
one giant file.
Omnibuses and compendiums arrive as a single unbroken scroll of pages. Comic Collection finds the issues inside them, names the story arcs, and gives you a timeline you can rearrange, so a forty issue collection reads like a shelf instead of a slab.
Free to read, forever. Works with CBZ, CBR, and PDF.
I.
It finds the issues
It reads the structure of the file, and when the file gives nothing away it researches the collection instead: which issues it holds, in what order, and which named arcs they form. Absolute Batman one through six comes back as The Zoo, with a spoiler free premise and the cast, so you know what you are about to read.
II.
You arrange it
The timeline works like a video editor. Pages on the bottom track, chapters above, volumes above that, and your own brackets on top. Drag the edges, split a bracket in two, and read only that thread: a storyline scattered across a whole omnibus plays back to back with everything in between skipped.
III.
Then you take it with you
Export any volume or bracket as its own file, so one arc can go to your phone without dragging three gigabytes along. Star the pages worth keeping, search your library by character or by a line of dialogue, and have any issue read aloud while your hands are busy.
“Your comics never leave your device. The reader opens them in the browser and keeps everything on your machine, so nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored on our side, and a three gigabyte omnibus opens as fast as a single issue.”
Forvela Comic Collection
Everything it does.
Reading
- CBZ, CBR, and PDF, recognised by what is inside the file rather than the name on it, so a mislabelled download still opens
- Load volume one, two, and three and they read as one continuous book
- Zoom with the plus and minus keys, held to the vertical by default, free panning when you want it
- Swipe, tap, or arrow keys to turn a page, and a scrubber marked with every chapter
- Always know which issue you are in, and come back to the exact page you left
- Installs like an app and keeps working offline
Finding the issues
- Reads the structure of the archive to split a collection into its issues
- Research identifies the exact edition, lists every issue in the order the book prints them, and names the arcs
- Arc cards give you the premise and the cast without spoiling the ending
- Page scanning reads the pages themselves to find the true issue starts and line the page numbers up
- Anything it gets wrong, you can correct in a couple of clicks, and later issues shift along with it
The arranger
- A timeline that works like a video editor: a filmstrip of pages, then chapters, volumes, and your own brackets stacked above
- Drag the edges, mark in and out points, snap to chapter boundaries, and undo anything
- Split a bracket so it can hold parts of the book that are nowhere near each other
- Read only that bracket and the parts play back to back, skipping everything between
- Export any bracket or volume as its own file, so one arc can go to your phone without the other three gigabytes
- Save a whole arrangement by name, and export it to move it to another device
Making it yours
- Bookmarks for where you are going back to, favourites for what you want to keep, filed into collections
- Notes on any issue, pinned to the page you wrote them on
- Rate issues out of five, ten, or a hundred, whichever you think in
- Search your library by character, arc, issue, or a line of dialogue from a page you have listened to
- Have an issue read aloud while your hands are busy
- Sort the whole shelf by publisher or by character
